The aim of the interview study was to examine what drivers observe in the road environment, what they understand by the concept of comfort and whether drivers' observations are also reflected in their perception of comfort. In regard to the latter, the results indicate this is in fact the case. The results also indicate that the participants possessed different conceptions of comfort, as well as of which factors contribute to and disturb, respectively, the perception of comfort. It was suggested in the report that the satisfaction and acceptance concerning factors such as road standard, management, road network and service should provide the basis for the evaluation of effects rather than the perception of comfort.
