This report presents a summary of current theoretical and experimental work conducted on transpiration and film cooling of rocket nozzles. An effort was made to assess the present technology to bring the reader abreast of the general status of these cooling techniques. Major problems which exist in developing transpiration and film cooling are presented in the conclusions. The discussion of various aspects of transpiration and film cooling is not meant to be exhaustive. Its purpose is to provide a background for the reader who is interested in further pursuing these cooling techniques. (Author)
