A piezoelectric triaxial accelerometer system has been evolved for use in satellite based neutral air density measurements. Piezoelectric bimorphs are heavily loaded with masses that are clamped at sealevel and are released in orbit by the use of pyrodevices. The satellite spin provides signal chopping to enable narrow-banding to reduce noise.
