Aerospace technology is defined as the science, methodology and engineering know-how as practiced in the aeronautic, astronautic and, more recently, the hydronautic government-industry coupling. In actuality, aerospace technology is more a state of mind or a way of 'doing business' than a conglomerate of scientific disciplines or technological skills. The implications of this definition to urban and inter-urban problems are examined. Similarities and differences in the application of 'Aerospace Technology' to technological goals and communal objectives are discussed with a view towards delineating which of the myriad of problems confronting our rapidly urbanizing society are amenable to attack by the aerospace engineer. The rationale and need for a city are examined. Possible limiting factors in city growth are briefly described. (Author)
