The use of speech recognition systems to help pilots control and keep track of ever more complicated flight management systems is outlined. A hydraulic system leak or loss checklist is used as a model of interactions of pilot and computer via a speech recognition system. Details of the computer control system used and the pilot/computer interface are outlined. Simulation of an emergency hydraulic leak situation is presented to illustrate the practical parameters involved in such a system.
