The report updates a 1985 NHTSA analysis of the impact minimum drinking age laws have on the fatal crash involvements of affected drivers. The original analysis utilized 1975-1982 fatal accident data in thirteen states to conclude that minimum drinking age laws were responsible for a 13% reduction in fatal crash involvements of affected drivers. The present report utilizes fatal accident data through 1986.
