Construction of roads in the Alsea forested watersheds, lead to an increase in peak discharge as much as 50 percent in the fall months and 21 percent in winter. No volume changes from road construction were detected among the watersheds. The influence of roads on peak discharge at the outlet of a large watershed was not detectable. Clearcutting without effects of roads and slash burning induced changes in peak discharge. Clearcutting increased peaks by 90 percent in fall and 28 percent in winter.
