The report is a draft environmental impact statement concerning that portion of the Appalachian Development Highway Corridor H in the vicinity of Elkins, Randolph County from the intersection of Randolph County 11 and US 33 west to Elkins to Randolph County 5/8 and US 33 east of Elkins, West Virginia. Corridor H connects Interstate 79 near Weston to Interstate 81 in Virginia. There is not any significant adverse environmental impact in the vicinity of Elkins affecting the community as a whole by the proposed construction of Corridor H. There are some localized adverse effects both temporary and permanent in nature: Right-of-way acquisition would require displacements of some residences and businesses; there would be some traffic disruption during construction and an anticipated increase in stream sedimentation; and, changes in land use patterns.
