The aim of this AGARD lecture Series is to present an extensive overview of the role of aeromechanics in rotorcraft development. The influence of helicopter ability on operation of military helicopters as well as the impact of military applications on rotorcraft design are evident. Following an introduction dealing with the general role of aeromechanics for rotary wing aircraft, the lectures covered rotorcraft aerodynamics, rotorcraft noise, dynamics of advanced rotor systems, mission requirements, handling qualities, simulation, flight testing, and advanced rotorcraft systems.
