A total of 14 steel, 3 aluminum, and 6 fiberglass-reinforced plywood/plastic prototype shipping containers were procured and tested. All of the containers were tested for structural adequacy and dimensions against the standards and test procedures being developed at USAMERDC. This report relates all work on the containers to date. The containers were named 'TRICON' to designate the coupling of three containers to form one 20-foot standard unit. Results of tests indicate that the TRICON container can meet the ANSI and proposed ISO standards. The TRICON container is considered technically feasible for military use. (Modified author abstract)
