There has been renewed interest in recent years by the Air Force and collaborative partners in industry, academia, and other government agencies in conducting real-time, pilot-in-the-loop, motion-based simulations exploring Flying and Handling Qualities (FHQ) of future aircraft concepts. This field of study, prematurely declared by a few as a 'sunset science', has returned to relevance and importance as modern methods of control law design are used to maximize performance of highly unconventional air vehicle designs.
