A new method was developed for measuring the gap acceptance behavior of drivers of turning vehicles at priority controlled T-junctions outside urban areas. The data were used in a simulation model to predict conflict rates in turning manoeuvres. The ranking by frequency of conflict of such junctions given by this model agreed well with that obtained from five-year records of injury accident data. The effect of various parameters, including age and sex of driver on gap acceptance behavor is evaluated. A new model of headway distribution on major roads was developed.
