The Code is an internationally accepted group of recommendations (not law nor regulation) for the construction and equipping of fishing vessels 79 feet and above in length which can be viewed as achieving a minimum level of safety for vessels in fishing service. It is offered as a service to U.S. boatbuilders, fishermen, and ancillary service companies to help maintain a minimum level of safety in U.S. fishing vessels and to help U.S. boatbuilders compete in the world market.
