The extensive onboard processing required of the Avionics Subsystem is best accomplished with digital rather than analog implementation. The following selections are made for the subsystem: (1) use of the Rolm 1602 as the airborne minicomputer; (2) use of assembly language as the programming language for the 1973 time frame and JOVIAL for the 1978 time frame; and (3) use of a moderately distributed interface system for the 1973 time frame and a federated interface system for the 1978 time frame.
