A preliminary account of experimental studies of dynamic behavior of model aircraft tires is given. The program covered longitudinal, lateral and rotational motions for both cross ply and radial ply tires, over ranges of operating conditions. The tires were tested by exciting appropriate resonant sinusoidal vibration. By measurement of frequency, exciting force and response it is possible to determine the dynamic stiffness and damping.
