A discussion of a number of problem areas such as ship's routine, fraternization, sexual harassment, favoritism, marriage between crew members, display of affection, homosexuality and spouse concerns which are frequently associated with assignment of women to shipboard duty. It examines the perspective from which we tend to view such problems and draws parallels between problems experience in these areas aboard ships with women assigned and problems experienced on ships with all male crews. It provides some considerations about the manner in which a naval officer should approach management decisions involving problems associated with women-at-sea. It concludes that most problems associated with having women assigned to ships are not new but that sex provides a new factor which must be considered in management decisions.
