The action consists of extending the 10-foot navigation channel from Fort Myers easterly along the 8-foot Okeechobee Waterway a distance of about 5 miles in Lee County, Florida. The enlarging of the 5-mile reach of the Waterway will improve navigation conditions to commercial navigation using the waterway. Approximately 80 acres of bottom biota will be dredged up for the enlarged channel and an equal area covered by the excavated material. Temporary turbidity and siltation will occur in the estuary during dredging.
