This study of the Aircraft Turbine Engine Component Improvement Program (CIP) examines some of the problems associated with determining benefits accrued from CIP. The major emphasis of the thesis was developing a component selection method and an analysis procedure for detecting changes in logistics parameters. The data for this report come from aviation organizational level maintenance activities and squadrons. The thesis reached the conclusion that the effects of CIP are more effectively assessed at the component level rather than at the system level. The thesis further demonstrated the logical and data collection difficulties encountered in the process of isolating and measuring the incremental benefits obtained from CIP expenditures.
