This is a final report for the design study for a Vehicular Intercommunications System (VIS) primarily for tracked vehicles. The purpose of this study was to investigate wireline and wireless techniques for system signaling and control for application to a tracked vehicle intercom system and then select the best techniques and establish a baseline intercom system. This report provides the criteria used for technique selection and an explanation of the baseline system. The baseline system utilized a microprocessor control system, a time division multiplex signaling system and an infrared or UHF FM wireless technique. The final wireless technique selected is dependent on whether or not external access to vehicle radio or intercom is required. (Author)
