A rapid and sensitive method has been developed and applied to the ultratrace analysis for beryllium in terrestrial, meteoritic, and lunar samples using electron capture gas chromatography. Beryllium was determined in lunar rock and dust samples returned from the Apollo 11 and 12 sites. In addition, a method is reported for the analysis for beryllium rocket exhaust contamination in soil. The research has revealed an interesting phenomenon regarding the concentration of beryllium in the lunar samples. (Author)
