The United States Special Operations Command has an identified shortage of special operations aviation assets. Furthermore, Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command has no organic aviation assets assigned to support its operations, The Marine Corps, through an incremental approach has the capacity and capability to build a special operations aviation element to support MARSOC. Through a series of near, mid, and long term investments in building and training a cadre of experienced aircrew, the creation of a Marine Corps special operations aviation element can be achieved with minimal impact to current force structure and current operational requirements.
