A tire chock is the most common means to restrain an aircraft while it is parked. However, during certain ground operations, the chock is unable to restrain the aircraft. An analysis was done on the restrain capabilities of the current chocks used for the B-52 and -135 aircraft. From this analysis, safety factors and operating limitations were established. In addition, criteria was developed for chock improvements as they are related to the various engineers on the B-52G, B-52H, KC-135A, KC-135E and KC-135R. (Author)
