Drivers' speed estimations taken in a driving simulation laboratory indicated large under-accelerations (overestimations) from engine speed alone and no correlation between these and other estimations; medium accuracy and correlation with other estimations from visual cues alone; a high level of accuracy in instructed specific speeds and 'free' driving estimations when driving normally; a positive correlation between specific and 'free' speed estimations; and little accuracy of correlation for proportional estimations.
