The project begins at the bridge crossing of the North Fork of the Tolovana River, Mile 57.1 on the Elliott Highway, and intersects the existing Manley Hot Springs Road at approximately Mile 74.0 just southwest of Livengood. Gold is present in the area in commercial quantity; thus access is of prime importance both for hauling in equipment and supplies, and in shipping out the ore. It is impossible to construct a safe and suitable roadway through the type of terrain that the proposed project encounters and not produce some adverse environmental effects upon the local ecology. The proposed project attempts to provide a fast, safe and efficient means of transportation with a minimum environmental effect on the ecology.
