The proposed project consists of extending runway 1R-19L to the north 1,500 feet and to the south 725 feet with accompanying taxiways and lighting and the strengthening of airfield paving by asphaltic concrete overlay. Included is a land acquisition of 2.7318 acres for the relocation of the terminal entrance drive, 53.1 acres for airport development and clear zone approach for runways 19L and 19R, and 0.5 acres ALS land for runway 25. There are no identifiable adverse environmental effects directly resulting from this project. As the east-west runway approaches saturation, runway 1R-19L will pick up more and more air carrier operations. The lengthening of this runway will permit the greatest flexibility in its use by all aircraft including long-range heavy aircraft. The increase in noise exposure to the community will not be the result of runway lengthening but by increased traffic demand. (Author)
