The history of U.S. and U.S.S.R. manned space flight was discussed, with particular reference to space rendezvous and docking. Modifications of Apollo and Soyuz and development of the androgynous peripheral docking unit and transfer module were presented. Control of the joint flight, the scientific and technical experimental program and the Baykinur and Canaveral space ports were discussed. Biographical information on the primary and backup crews of Apollo and Soyuz was given. Preparations and rehearsals in the U.S.A and U.S.S.R. and in orbit (Soyuz-16) for the joint flight were commented on. (Author)
