A study was conducted to portray the major mission profiles in which the Fighter/Attack community is engaged and by so doing, to identify the problem areas associated with the current inventory of Fighter/Attack Aircrew Protective Equipment toward fulfilling the requirements of these missions. The ultimate objective of this effort is to provide a sound basis from which a series of separate but coordinated engineering developments will be conducted to provide a new generation of mission-oriented protective systems for the Fighter/Attack community. The net effect of this program will be to enhance the inflight performance and effectiveness of all Fighter/Attack aircrewmen with little or no sacrifice to their safety in the event of an emergency situation.
