The specific objective of this study is to establish the feasibility of reducing the number of azimuth stations required for rotor simulation while using the Blade Element Approach method for computing the aerodynamic characteristics of the simulated rotor. The feasibility of the use of four azimuth stations is demonstrated and further, it is shown that fixed azimuth station locations will provide the necessary accuracy. The reduced number of azimuth stations and fixed azimuth station locations with the resultant reduction in computer complexity will result in a considerable saving in hardware without sacrificing the integrity of the simulation.
