A field study was conducted at Fort Knox, KY, to investigate the effects of Army tracked vehicle training on terrestrial birds, mammals, and vegetation. Intensive studies were conducted at three sites representative of a long-term training area, a short-term training area, and a control area. This report describes the survey procedures used and provides preliminary indications of ecological differences between Army tracked vehicle training areas and areas representing pre-training (no training) conditions.
