The importance of space exploration in inspiring collaboration between the nations of the world is discussed. It is of enormous value for the United States to collaborate with other nations to engage in the challenge of space exploration. Data from satellites launched by other countries is being openly shared by interested scientists. The international nature of the International Space Station is extolled as an example of the best of international cooperation. NASA is actively seeking other countries to assist in the exploration of the moon and other worlds. With the retirement of the Space Shuttle, the United States must rely on Russian space craft to ferry astronauts to the ISS, The challenge to NASA and the nation continues to show leadership in the area of space exploration.
