A study was conducted into the feasibility of cathodically protecting a fleet mooring. The original cathodic protection system utilized sacrificial magnesium anodes with automatic control heads designed to maintain the desired potential level. This system did not operate satisfactorily. A modification using uncontolled zinc anodes gave a higher level of protection to the buoy and riser chain but insufficient zinc was present on the ground legs to provide the necessary potential.
