Studies were made of cavitation performance and open-water characteristics of a controllable-pitch supercavitating propeller with two, three, and four blades. It was found that in varying the number of blades and pitch ratios the performance followed the trends of conventional propeller designs. By means of several numerical examples, the feasibility of using a controllable-pitch supercavitating propeller is demonstrated. A practical application to a hydrofoil boat is also presented.
