Freight transportation plays a vital role in local and regional economy. The markets and businesses from different regions and locations can be connected through freight movements. But it is difficult to quantify the economic contribution of freight transportation. To date, no such study in Florida has been conducted. One of the major functions of the freight transportation system is to ship goods and materials to meet the needs of individuals and businesses. Today, Florida transports a large number of products locally and to other states as well as abroad. Florida’s rapid economic growth over the past few decades has resulted in rising freight demand. Therefore, it is important to quantify the real economic impact of freight transportation in Florida. In this research, an economic impact framework based on the Florida FreightSIM was developed. A Python software based on the economic analysis framework which is called Florida Freight Economic Impact Kit was also developed. The project concluded with analysis of two case studies
