The report contains 13 technical papers mainly concerned with traffic problems on freeways, simulation procedures, and extensions of queueing theory to merge control and priority lanes. On-line prediction of traffic congestion involves selection of appropriate variables along with model specification and properties of parameter estimates. Stochastic models are discussed for environmental impacts of highway traffic, including noise variability and automobile-truck mixtures assuming exponential headways. An air pollution model is developed for a single lane highway, and a numerical example is given for a rush hour situation yielding pollutants. Statistical tests are developed for validation procedures for network simulation models.
