The purpose of the report is to summarize the results of a comprehensive program that has been pursued to delineate all aspects of conductive interference (CI) in rail transit systems and to help avoid its effects in new rail transit systems. The report documents the efforts to achieve an understanding of the nature and characteristics of CI required to remedy specific situations. The program has been undertaken as a cooperative venture of U.S. manufacturers of rail transit propulsion and signaling equipment, rail transit system operators, and members of the research and consulting community.
