Labyrinthine defective (L-D) and normal subjects were flown through zero-gravity maneuvers and their motion sickness symptomatology observed. The L-D subjects showed no signs of motion sickness, whereas 64 percent of the normal subjects developed symptoms. The absence of functional labyrinthine mechanisms appreciably decreased, and probably completely eliminated, susceptibility to motion sickness during zero-gravity maneuvers. (Author)
