Vectra A130 is a 30% glass fiber reinforced liquid crystal polymer which can be molded reliably, has a low thermal conductivity, and adequate strength and stiffness. The reaction control system support and insulation requirements of the ESA Cluster spacecraft gave the necessary impetus for evaluation of Vectra in a real environment. As space usage was unknown, it was necessary to perform acceptance tests before proceeding to flight hardware.
