The Russian Far East Grain Terminal ('RFEGT') Group is a consortium which has been formed to evaluate the feasibility of a commercial, (for profit) privately financed, dedicated grain transshipment facility located in the port of Vostochny in the Russian Far East. RFEGT Group's members include the Paul Soros Investment Group, the Burlington Northern Railroad, the port of Vostochny and Roskhleboproduckt ('RKP'). In a free market environment, featuring (1) full currency convertibility, (2) compensatory rail transport tariffs, (3) no state subsidies on the landed price of imported grain, and (4) a free market price on domestic production, the authors believe underlying economics would favor a private investment in a grain import facility in Vostochny.
