The statement covers two Federal-Aid Secondary highways which affect parkland within the City of Anchorage, Alaska. Significant environmental impacts include removal of a narrow strip of natural vegetation on either side of the road where it passes through Russian Jack Springs Park for slope grading, provision of pedestrian and bicycle access along the highway margins of the park, an increase in the noise level near several residential areas, the aesthetic effects of a four lane highway, and the urbanizing effect that the project will have on undeveloped land lying along or near the two highways.
