An analysis has been made of methods for measuring vehicle occupant motion during crash or impact conditions. The purpose of the measurements is to evaluate restraint system performance using human, anthropometric dummy, or animal occupants. A detailed Fourier frequency analysis is made of the sensor requirements. Potential candidate systems are evaluated, and five of these recommended for further development and field testing. (Author)
