The study focuses on bus priority strategies which could be used on downtown streets in the District of Columbia. The first section of the report discusses the eight major goals which shaped and governed the study. The second section of the study develops two models for a bus priority system in downtown Washington. The first model is a limited system which makes use only of bus lanes. The second model makes use of a core of bus only streets surrounded by routes using bus priority lanes. (Author)
