This article describes the Great Lakes Ice Season for 1974-75. The 1974-75 Great Lakes Ice Season, like the previous three seasons, was warmer than normal. Considerably less navigationally significant ice formed than normal. The lack of ice and national economic pressures pushed shipping traffic through Great Lakes water with only minor stoppages and resulted in the first year-round navigation season.
