Several countries in NATO organization have recently formed a working Group to give an overview of system identification of rotorcraft. The results of the working groups shows that rotorcraft identification still remains a challenging area as compared to fixed wing aircraft. With the beginning of this project, it is aimed to develop advanced methods and software that will support academic and industrial activities in the Netherlands in the areas leading to model identification, validation, handling qualities evaluation, control system design etc. These can potentially play a major contribution in improved quality, reduced risk and cost during the rotorcraft development phase.
