The objective of the project was to develop an integrated system through which States can assure the dissemination of safe driving information to, and its acquisition by, all categories of motor vehicle operators. The System addresses drivers in five subsystems and 16 components within subsystems as follows: Qualification Subsystem--New Drivers, Reading Limited Drivers, Foreign Speaking Drivers; Maintenance Subsystem--Licensed Drivers, Older Drivers, Physically Limited Drivers, New Residents; Advancement Subsystem--Experienced Drivers; Improvement Subsystem--Traffic Violators, Drinking Drivers, Accident-Involved Drivers; Special Vehicle Qualification Subsystem--Motorcycle Operators, Truck and Bus Operators, School Bus Operators, Recreational Vehicle Operators, and Emergency Vehicle Operators. Development of the following project materials is discussed: ISDIS Plan; Catalog of Available Materials; and State Guide. Other materials prepared under the project which also appear at the end of this Report are: Informational Materials Rating System; an Experienced Driver Manual; Ambulance Driver Manual; and School Bus Driver Manual.
