The report is the third in a series of four studies of aircraft noise and its abatement. The others were done for JF Kennedy International (New York), Cape Kennedy Regional (Melbourne, Fla.), and Bradley International (Windsor Locks, Conn.). The purpose of the four studies is to prepare recommendations for reducing aircraft noise problems around future airports and in the affected communities. The measures related to land use included: the use of codes, ordinances, and local development policies to encourage compatible development in high noise areas; reduction of the noise impact by the insulation of structures; and conversion or redevelopment of incompatible land use in high noise areas.
