There are only a small number of well controlled studies dealing with the relationship between consumption of alcohol and traffic accidents. All of these, however, indicate a significant relationship between increasing blood alcohol concentrations and increasing risk of having an accident. Several statistical compilations of the incidence of accident victims with significant blood alcohol concentrations may reasonably be given added weight because of the conclusions of these controlled studies.
