The architectural definition and design of the Autonomous Electrical Power Supply System (APS) for the Vesta small bodies spacecraft is described. Vesta is designed for a deep space scientific mission exploring asteroids and comets, and takes it's name from the Vesta asteroid. Implementation of the APS autonomy is achieved by means of both analog and digital electronic control. Tradeoff analysis for the selection of power conditioning is summarized and the microprocessor based APS Controller (APSC) is described.
