The five-year Strategic Plan was first submitted on September 30, 1997, for fiscal years 1998-2002. It was revised in April 2000, for fiscal years 2001-2005. It complements and dove-tails with the National Park Service (NPS) Strategic Plan and displays how Hovenweep National Monument addresses servicewide mission and goals as well as the specific mission and long-term goals of the monument. The Strategic Plan contains a mission statement, mission goals and long-term goals--generally five years in length--as well as information on how the long-term goals will be accomplished. This Annual Performance Plan then lays out--as annual goals--this year's increments toward achieving the long-term goals of the Strategic Plan, and thus the mission goals and mission of the monument and the NPS.
