The study probes the adequacy of present airport facilities in the Virgin Islands. The present airport at St. Thomas is examined in detail to determine its ability to accommodate potential growth in tourist traffic. Also, the net gain that would result from construction of a new airport on St. Thomas is quantified. For perspective, a wide-range analysis was made of factors that bear some reasonable relationship to the future development of air traffic in the Islands. The aim of this approach was to develop the full array of facts necessary for definitive evaluations and reasonable forecasting. (Author)
