The objective of the investigation was to further investigate the relationship between the mean number of speed changes per minute and motor vehicle accident rates for twenty-six sections of two-lane rural primary highway having uniform geometric design and roadside development characteristics, but varying traffic volumes and accident rates. Also investigated was the relationship between the speed change parameter and the traffic volume and volume to capacity ratio on each section. (Author)
